Music is taught in the classroom from Pre Prep to Year 8 as part of the common curriculum for all students and in Years 9 to 12 as an elective. The School also offers Music Extension in Years 10 and 12.
All students in Year 3 learn either the violin, cello or double bass for three terms and have the opportunity to participate in the Year 3 String Orchestra which performs in a number of concerts during the year.
All students in Year 5 learn a band instrument for two terms. Instrument choices include the flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba or percussion. Students then participate in the bands program and, should they choose to continue after two terms, have the chance to perform at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.
Private and paired lessons are available in a variety of subjects. Paired lessons are only offered in the early stages of musical training on certain instruments. Theory lessons covering AMEB requirements in all grades will be offered. Click the drop down menu to view the full range of instruments taught at Â鶹Éç. The list is ever-growing.
